This is not a government office. Harrison County Property Records is a private reference, not a records custodian. It cannot retrieve or certify documents, change an assessment, or complete a title search. Contact the public office that created the record. For an emergency call 911; reports of stalking or harassment belong with local police.

For the county property records people seek most often, use the relevant official desk. The property search page helps identify a parcel before a request; the county office list at Harrison County records offices explains which system holds each record.
- Harrison County Clerk: deeds, mortgages, liens, plats, estate filings, and marriage records. 229 S. Third Street, Clarksburg, WV 26301; 304-624-8674; Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Clerk’s page links the land-record inquiry and fee schedule.
- Harrison County Assessor: ownership and parcel accounts, values, homestead, and mineral records. 229 S. Third Street; 304-624-8510; Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Real estate questions route to 304-423-7277, homestead to 304-624-8540, and minerals to 304-624-8523.
- Harrison County Sheriff: tax collection and tax-record links. Tax-collection offices are at 229 S. Third Street; the general Sheriff numbers are 304-423-7705 and 304-423-7700. The county page lists SheriffFOIA@harrisoncountywv.gov for public-record requests.
- Harrison Circuit Clerk: civil, foreclosure, and title-case files. 301 West Main Street, Clarksburg; 304-624-8640. Ask the office how to inspect a public docket and what copy fees currently apply.
West Virginia’s Freedom of Information Act, W. Va. Code §29B-1-1 et seq., generally requires a public body to respond within five business days, excluding weekends and legal holidays. The request should describe the record with reasonable detail and go to the agency that maintains it. Actual reproduction costs may be charged, but search or staff-time fees are not allowed. Follow each custodian’s posted method and avoid sending personal information the office does not need.
Municipal permits go to the city that has jurisdiction. Clarksburg’s permit page links Cloudpermit and lists Code Enforcement at 304-624-1633; Bridgeport’s zoning page lists 304-842-8200; Shinnston lists building permits and business licenses at 304-592-2126. These are city records, separate from the county deed and assessment files.
